This exercise works the entire upper body and gives a aerobic effect as well.
This does not take the place of aerobic exercise but many people simply do not do any strength training at all. That's a mistake.
By simply adding this exercise and doing about 3 sets of as many as you can do 3 - 4 times a week, you can add a lot of strength and firmness to your upper body. Keep in mind muscle burns fat.

Hindu Pushup or Dive Bomber?
What's the difference Bob?
When you finish the first part and are stretched out, for the hindu style you simply return direct to the starting position. When doing the dive bomber, you go in reverse, dropping down to the pushup position and pushing back to the starting position.
Which is best?
They both work. I think the hindu pushup works the shoulders more and the dive bomber works the arms more. I do both for a good, solid overall upper body workout.
What About the Hindu Pushup vs. Swissball Pushup?
I really like doing pushups on an exercise ball. The instability of the ball makes your arms and your core muscles work hard and I love the pump. At Exercise Digest I discuss this a little more.
As to the question comparing it to the Hindu pushup; one of the reasons I said the Hindu pushup is one of the greatest strength training exercises ever is because there is no equipment so you can easily do it anywhere, even while on vacation.
Now I believe in variety so mixing these various pushups is not a bad idea. But personally, when I do my regular workout I do swiss ball pushups and alternate them with my dumbbell curls. I still do hindu pushups and/or dive bombers in the evening before going to bed or first thing in the morning. It all depends on my mood.
I leave it to you to make the decision as to which you like the best.

Without a doubt these are terrific. I know Furey seems to get upset when anyone mentions Dive bombers though, but I have no idea why. They are terrific as well and add a different stress to the body. I do both. I can do more hindu pushups than dive bombers though. Wonder what Matt would say about that. :-)

Dive Bombers vs Hindu Push up
The only difference is in the dive bombers you reverse the way you finish the push up. This actually makes you do a push up on completion.

Let me tell you right off the bat though. Turbulence Training is not for everyone. It requires intense effort. Yep - you can slash your exercise time and you will continue to burn fat when completed. I only added this here as I have had numerous requests for additional exercise and for overall body training. My running periods have been cut to 20 minutes from 45 minutes following this type training, and I am in better shape than ever.

Another Thing About Hindu Pushups
Last night as I watched the Browns on Monday Night Football, I would do 10 hindu pushups each time the Browns scored. When the game was over, I was heading to bed nice and pumped up. Not to mention the Browns won. :-)
I do my regular exercise routine and always do these separately, pretty much when I feel like it, but making sure to do them at least 3 times a week.
Wanta Try a Killer Hindu Pushups Workout?
Do as many pushups as you can. Rest for 20 seconds, then do as many as you can and, once again rest . . . . . you will do this for 5 minutes.
Now, the chances are you will need a longer rest period in the beginning, but when you get to tje point of doing this 5 minute workout as described, you are going to feel muscles you never knew you had.
Hindu Push Ups with the Perfect Pushup?
Oh man! I just started doing the hindu push ups using the Perfect Pushup device. These are handles that rotate as you do a push up.I'm telling you, this takes this to a new level. I've only had 2 workouts so far but my chest has that ache you feel when you get a good workouts, as do my shoulders and arm muscles.
I'll keep you informed on this but my initial reaction is --- Outstanding!!
